Landermere Wharf

Description

The wharf is very small and it is hard to believe that it was first used in the Elizabethan era, for shipping coal, corn and Scandinavian wood.It was sold in 1760 to a Richard Rigby. Rigby accumulated a fortune serving the Crown and politician wheeler-dealers in the dynamic 18th century parliament. Why's that interesting? Because Rigby is my mother's maiden name and I could have been related to someone very rich. Apparently though, his fortune was endowed to a museum.
